SHOTOPOP - Workout Demon

OUR LOVE LETTER TO EXERCISE | What started as an ordinary ride changed our day. We turned that experience into a fun little film that captures the raw emotional shift that happens while on the bike sweating it out. Born of our genuine affection (and a bunch of sweat), cinematic and heartfelt, we dug deep to share the emotional core of how a good workout can impact our day-to-day.

LET'S START WITH JORDAN! | We decided to not hold back in showing some process for this project. We went through a LOT of development, and we wanted to share as much of the legwork as we could. So here we go! Starting with our protagonist, Jordan! 💛

IT'S CALLED FASHHUN... | Digging deep into our favourite sports brands for inspiration, we couldn't help but get a bit designy with Jordan’s exercise outfit. And like any proper diva, it's only fitting that Jordan has no less than two outfit changes during the ride...

AND THE SETTING? |

We wanted to make sure that we capture some of Jordan’s personality in their apartment. Who are they? What do they like? What do they do? Interests, hobbies, and personality traits.

Of course, we had to start with a floor plan!

PAINT! | After we made the base in 3D, we can lock all our cameras, and start matte painting over the renders to give them more unique character, and add in details and easter eggs. Starting with some broader explores, we narrowed it down, and then finessed.

ANIMATION! | After all of this... We still have to animate the damn thing! This is all a lot of hard work. Since we didn't have much dialogue, our aim was for Jordan to carry the emotion through their movement and expressions. We wanted to make sure we feel that they were having a bad day, and that we clearly convey the change in their mood as we progress.
